I have always thought of the heart as that mysterious, sacred space within a human being that holds all of one's deepest, most authentic desires, hopes and aspirations within it.
To me it seems to be the place that holds the original good of a person, that beginning dream or thought behind why one has been created, that simple reason for being here in the first place.
The heart holds the genuineness that existed before any pretenses were ever learned, any social tricks ever mastered, any airs ever employed as a cover up or as a wall to keep others out and perpetually held at arms length, at least to some degree.
And the heart has a song of its own, a melody that it longs to play aloud so that it may be experienced and heard, so that its radiant beauty may be made known, and tasted, and reveled in by all.
Isn't that something that we long for?
The melody of a heart song is unique, and it identifies each of us in our own special way.
To be seen authentically, and accurately, and wholly?
Don't we, in our most honest and private moments, long to be seen for our best self, and for the gifts that we bring to this world?
And so I ask: what is your personal heart song?
Have you ever searched for it in order to discover and share it, or have you suppressed it and turned the volume down on it?
What would that melody sound like if you were to play it aloud for all to hear?
I've been on an expedition to discover the melody of my own heart song, to experience the sound of the notes being played in thunderous passion, in full drama with both crescendos and diminuendos as part of the experience.
And what I have discovered so far, is that my heart song is one that sings of a desire for freedom—freedom to succeed, freedom to fail... but most importantly, freedom to taste and to see.
It sings of a desire to know my Creator, to know the power that He has placed within me, and to understand how to best use that power.
It sings of my longing to do meaningful work, work that will bring some joy and lightness, some love, into not only my life, but into other's lives, as well.
The melody of a heart song is unique, and it identifies each of us in our own special way.
It is something that emanates from within, that longs to makes its way up and out of us to resonate and be heard.
What a travesty it would indeed be to rob one another of the beautiful melodies of our individual heart songs, to not give opportunity for that glorious music to be experienced...
After all, don't we we desperately need more music in the world?
Taste what's good and pass it on.

“From The Heart” is a space for me to share some of my more personal thoughts on life. Here you'll find my reflections on my own inner/spiritual journey; on being a wife and mother; on being a creative; and general observations, pretty much whatever is on my mind.
I whole-heartedly believe that sharing 'from the heart' with one another is what connects us, heals us, and inspires us! Glad you're here...
