From the Heart: Searching for a Treasure That Is Already Within

“Why are you knocking at every other door? Go, knock at the door of your own heart.” ~Rumi

From the Heart: Searching for a Treasure That Is Already Within

From the moment we awaken in the morning until the time we go to sleep at night, we seem to be on a frantic quest to find love, acceptance, validation, guidance, mercy, and compassion from the outside world...

All too often we seek the answers—those keys to the kingdom—from sources outside of ourselves, listening to and accepting the counsel of masters who are far removed from the reality of our lives; and we take their word as gold, revering it above the truth that is already present within us, waiting to be explored.

We search “out there” for someone to tell us who we are, what we want, and what direction we should go in.

We search the eyes of those around us hoping to see ourselves reflected within them, and search inside of the mouths of gurus for the phrase that will unlock the door behind which lies some mystical treasure, one that will finally create security and set us up for the rest of our lives...

But this quest outside of ourselves for all that we seek is futile, and deep inside, we know this.

We know that it is not within another that we will find our purpose nor be able to feel and experience that luxurious material from which we are made.

We know that it is not within another that we will find the answers to who we are and how we were created and what that distinct and unique work is that we are meant to do...

Deep within us we have the inkling that all we will ever need has already been given to us, that all along we've been searching for a treasure that is already within...

And that glorious treasure that is already there within us is that connection to our Creator—a connection to the very source from which love, acceptance, validation, guidance, mercy, and compassion originates and emanates from, and flows directly into our vessels as the living water that it is.

There is no middle man needed to access this treasure, nor guru needed to hand us the keys...

And because all that we will ever need has already been so painstakingly placed within us, we can finally end this frantic search for an imagined treasure that is somewhere “out there” just outside of our grasp.

We can make contact with the riches that we already have, using the keys which have been there in our pocket all along...

Taste what's good and pass it on.

“From The Heart” is a space for me to share some of my more personal thoughts on life. Here you'll find my reflections on my own inner/spiritual journey; on being a wife and mother; on being a creative; and general observations, pretty much whatever is on my mind.

I whole-heartedly believe that sharing "from the heart" with one another is what connects us, heals us, and inspires us! Glad you're here...
